"the nasca lines"

in the american midwest, drawings from ancient indian civilizations can be found painted on or etched in rocks. in southern peru, similar drawings can be found, but instead of being carved in stone, they are carved into the very earth itself, and are up to nine miles long. they are the nasca lines and glyphs, an amazing assortment of runway-type geometric lines and crudely drawn creatures, including a hundred-foot-tall man. these spectacular creations are so huge that they can only be appreciated from an airplane flying overhead. these figures, almost 900 of them, were discovered in the 1930s but are in fact 2,000 years old.

in march of 1999 ufos were sighted all over peru by thousands of people. videos and photos of alien crafts and strange lights were taken all over south america as sightings stretched out over three weeks. crop circles appeared in fields in southern peru, just south of the desert where the nasca lines appear. stories of healing waters and a phenomal increase in the birth rate of twins flooded in. either the entire country was taken in by mass hysteria which was captured forever on video and film, or something spectacular occured in march when ufos visited peru.

is it mere conincidence that the country that boasts these otherworldly nasca lines is also the center of the most documented occurance of ufo sightings? popular theory has long held that the largest of the lines is in fact a landing strip or runway and other lines in the area were created by spacecraft taking off from their temporary resting place in the desert. the characters etched in the earth, whales, birds, primates, lizards, and other animals could have been markers or even roadsigns created by and left for other visitors from outer space. this remote region would not be likely to draw attention. either the creators assumed that the markings would disappear over time, or they didn't expect for humans to develop the power of flight in order to ever notice them.

the mass alien visitation of peru in 1999 was not the first. possibly, they have returned century after century to their familiar landing site, never suspecting that civilization had changed so much since their last visit. is peru a favorite vacation spot for these alien beings or a gathering place for scientists? or did an ancient society of peruvians create these enormous and elaborate lines and shapes for religious or even artistic reasons? these patterns, which can only be viewed from the air, defy human logic and explanation. if anything on this planet perfectly fit the definition of "alien", it would be the nasca lines.
