"operation majestic twelve" by lane roberts
on november 18, 1952 a top-secret memo was prepared on the subject of the "majestic twelve operation" (aka mj-12) and presented to president-elect eisenhower. marked "top secret / majic eyes only" and "copy one of one" this document details a secret organization commissioned by the government of the united states to investigate unidentified flying objects. 35 years later, the document resurfaced into civilian hands.
the fbi in dallas, texas took possession of the memo, and after a three year investigation, declared the document to be bogus. the freedom of information act eventually declassified the original memo and resulting report.
according to the mj-12 document, president harry truman commissioned a top-secret group via a classified executive order. this group reported only to the president. the goal of the group was to exploit everything they could from recovered alien technology. they were commissioned to recover and study the remains of a spacecraft that crashed near roswell, new mexico in june of 1947, and a later crash in texas in december, 1950. the mj-12 group recovered wreckage from the crash and four dead alien bodies.

all of the people mentioned in the document were, in fact, employees of the united states government in 1947. several are even pictured with president kennedy. the document details the misinformation campaign of explaining away the roswell incident as "a misguided weather research balloon." it also describes the four EBEs, or "extra-terrestrial biological entities." the short document, which is intended to introduce the new president eisenhower to the existence of solid proof that extra-terrestrial aliens visited earth on at least two occasions, is concluded with a memo signed by president harry s. truman himself.

in 1988 this document surfaced, supposedly by accident, in the hands of a civilian. after being passed around to several people, a concerned citizen, believing he was in possession of a top-secret document, turned it over to the fbi. the fbi launched a three year investigation into the validity of the majestic twelve document. when the freedom of information act released their findings to the general public, much of the 1991 report was blacked out. it accompanied the original memo, with "bogus" scrawled across each page in thick black marker. what has been declassified from the investigation declares the memo to be a hoax.
the mj-12 document almost seems too good to be true. if this is a legitimate report, it single-handedly supports the popular theory that a real ufo crashed near roswell. true or false, the fbi would certainly not release a statement verifying it. could this be proof that the government is in possession of alien technology, or is it a hoax trying desperately to fool believers? this short report, if real, is the holy grail for many ufo researchers - evidence of extra-terrestrial life.
