this is an astronomically important month in many regards. on monday, august 11th, the first ever space wedding took place between an american woman on the ground and her russian cosmonaut groom in orbit 240 miles overhead. on tuesday, august 12th, the moon was full as the annual perseid meteor shower, also known as the "tears of st lawrence" lit up the night sky. but the real "star" of this stellar show is mars, which on august 27th will be closer to the earth than it has been in the last 60,000 years. next to the moon, the red planet will be the brightest thing in the night sky.

on a related note, a piece of mars fell to earth on october 3, 1962 and landed in nigeria, just a few feet in front of a farmer. this mars meteorite, called zagami, is being auctioned off on ebay on september 5th. if you want to own a piece of the red planet, bidding will start at $450,000. the fragment, which is about the size of a soda can, weighs less than 7 ounces.

after a few hours of confusion, news stations began broadcasting messages not to panic, that this isn't a terrorist attack or a natural disaster, just the failure of a power grid not modern enough to handle the massive power loads. it was the biggest blackout in north american history, and the government wants us to believe that one too many air conditioners overloaded a circuit in canada and the effect domininoed through power relays and stations through two providences and seven states in two countries. on an evening when the night sky is ablaze with a spectacular display of shooting stars and a large, visible mars, the total blackout in nyc gave many new yorkers their first glimpse of the majesty of space, unfettered by light polution.

we, the loyal readers and editors at envasion.net don't believe in coincidences, and we don't take what the radio tells us at face value. undoubtedly many of you have already made the connection here, but i will point it out anyway. a piece of mars crashed into earth 40 years ago and in a few weeks it will be sold, not at a reputable gallery or to a museum, but instead is being auctioned on the internet. mars is as close as it has been in 60,000 years or will be again in the same long amount of time. it is a prime opportunity for martians to invade earth, and while they are at it, recover their property, a valuable piece of their planet. does the meteorite hold secrets about mars or do they just want their fair share in the profit? either way, it's clear that they want their belongings back and will go to any length to recover it.

it is not yet certain whether the landing of a martian spacecraft in canada yesterday afternoon accidentally caused a power surge because of a disruptance from their incompatible, alien technology or if they deliberately disabled our power systems, causing an enormous "blind spot". while in the midst of a multiple-night meteor shower, many spacecrafts could navigate through our atmosphere undetected, or indistinguishable from the perseid shower. the question remains, what can we expect now? is this the first step in a massive attack that is being planned and executed on mars, or was this to be a covert operation to replace the martian meteor with a common rock, so they could recover their property and return home unseen? are the governments of canada and the usa aware of this sinister plot and are hiding it from the people, or are they preoccupied with the power situation and missing the obvious?
