"gulf breeze: ufo hotspot" by donna moore

looking for the perfect summer vacation? how about some sun, surf, and UFOs. gulf breeze, florida, is known as the UFO capital of the world, and for good reason. UFO sightings in gulf breeze began in 1952. there have been hundreds of documented cases since then from locals, tourists, and UFO hunters. |
gulf breeze is just outside of pensacola, surrounded by beaches and military installations. . it was made famous in 1987 when ed walters and his family not only claimed to have several encounters with UFOs, including an abduction, in november of that year, they also have quite a few polaroid photos as evidence. "... he noticed a light moving outside ... ed went out of the front door, and could see that the light was in fact a glowing bluish-gray craft like none he had seen before." over the years many people have tried to discredit the walters, but it remains one of the strongest UFO sightings in the united states.
during that "winter of the UFO", 135 people witnessed UFOs. men, women, and children from all walks of life experienced the phenomenon in florida. many report "missing time" or recall alien beings, like the child who was taken away by "ghosts with big black eyes."

but even before that famous year, there have been reputable documented sightings. on july 24, 1952, a navy man, a local woman, and residents of a nearby air force base all separately reported seeing "disc-shaped objects flying overhead, that had an 'orange glow' to them." november 25, 1957 two pilots report "unidentified objects" that looked like stars but registered on their bomber's radar screens. october 19, 1973 a local man, patterson, claimed to be abducted from his truck. |
|
since the flurry of activity in 1987-88, over two hundred sightings of unidentified flying objects have been sighted in gulf breeze, including one report from a source very close to me. UFO spotters meet regularly to search the skies. "almost weekly some resident or tourist announces that they, too, have seen strangely lit "chevron-shaped" objects in the night sky, or large shiny discs with panels of lights revolving on the underside, or odd lights darting back and forth in the sky at impossible speeds." locals regularly report large (an average of 26 feet in diameter), burned circles in their residential pastures.
